Most solid and engineered wooden floors can be restored, including parquet, strip flooring, sports floors and church floors. Only heavily water-damaged boards, very thin engineered boards, or floors with structural issues may be unsuitable. A quick site survey confirms what’s possible.
Dustless floor sanding uses continuous-belt machines connected to high-performance extraction units (such as Bona DCS). This removes around 99% of airborne dust, making the process cleaner, safer and better for the final finish. It’s standard practice for modern professionals.
Polishing alone won’t remove sanding marks. If marks are visible, the floor usually needs to be re-sanded with the correct grit sequence and then properly sealed. A professional sanding machine ensures a smooth, even surface without swirl marks or scratches.
Most professional sanding jobs take 1–2 days for an average room. Larger areas, parquet or floors requiring repairs may take longer. After sanding, you’ll usually need additional drying time for the primer and seal coats before the furniture can go back.
The cost of professional floor sanding in the UK typically ranges from £20–£35 per m², depending on the floor type, its condition, and the finish you choose. Parquet, hardwood and heavily worn floors take longer and sit at the higher end. A proper quote should include sanding, sealing and all materials.
